While using a PC to TV VGA converter, why would the picture not show on TV?

I Have Answers asked:

I was using the converter fine this morning. Usually I plug it into my TV to notebook Right Click desktop Graphics Options Output To Monitor and my notebook screen goes black and the picture displays on the TV.

This time when I follow these steps my notebook screen goes black but TV picture doesn’t change. It doesn’t even flicker.

Any idea why I can’t get it to work?

I tried restarting notebook and unplugging everything and starting over
